The Musical: Cats
Cats is based around the lead up to an event called ‘The Heaviside Layer’ where Old Deuteronomy announces the cat who will be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life and go to the Heaviside layer.
The Cats narrative is centered around the book written by T. S. Elliot, the musical adaptation contains music choreographed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Being one of the longest running shows on Broadway and in the West End with almost 9,000 for 21 record-breaking years in the New London Theatre, Cats is certainly a well-known musical. Since it's world premiere the musical has been performed in over 26 countries and has been presented to over 50 million people world-wide.
Directed by Trevor Nunn, with Gillian Lynne as associate director and choreographer Cats has been spoilt with technical talent, including designs from John Napier.
